Ribbed Fingerless Gloves- Free Pattern

I made this for my sister last Christmas and she loves wearing them in the office when she is cold because she can still type, write, and talk on the phone. Although they are longer than the normal gloves I make, it's a pretty fast project.

Needles: size 8 circular or DPNs
Yarn: Worsted weight (I used Loops & Threads impeccable yarn)
Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4 ins [10 cm]

CO 40 stitches, join the round being careful not to twist!
K2P2 for 7 inches
Cast off 6 sts, continue in pattern until you have finished the round.
DO NOT JOIN THIS ROUND, rather work backwards (you'll be starting on the back needle and you'll be knitting on the wrong side). Once you get back to the beginning of needle 1, turn yourself back so you are knitting the right way again (you should be back next to the 6 you just cast off). This will allow the thumb hole to be wider than just 1 row.
Continue knitting in pattern and at the end of needle 2, cast on 6. Now join the round like normal (I eventually moved these 6 back to needle one, but you can do that later).
Continue in K2P2 pattern until top hits between the first and second knuckle on your pinky, or your desired length.
Cast off and weave in ends.

I know that part about the thumb is confusing, so if you don't get it, just cast off 6, work the round, and when you get back to the beginning cast on 6 and continue. This will be sufficient for a thumb hole, but not my personal preference.

Enjoy!
