pacific garden mission

from their website:
"Pacific Garden Mission is the oldest, continuously-operating, rescue mission in the country. The historical record features the names of many great men and women of faith, such as Billy Sunday, Mel Trotter, D.L. Moody, Tom Mackey, Robert Atchison, John R. Rice and William McCarrell. It is our desire to remain faithful to God's Word and obedient to His will as were those who have gone before.
Since 1877, Pacific Garden Mission has been a refuge.  Millions weary of struggling through life's storms, have come to the "Old Lighthouse” seeking food, shelter, clothing, medical, and dental care. They also came seeking the answer to life’s struggles.  They are offered the answer: life through faith in Jesus Christ. "

this week cary, pau, kyle, and johanna volunteered there. i got to go with them on tuesday. i got to hang out in the garden and planted peppers and brussel sprouts, then helped served lunch, then cleaned around the building. such a humbling experience! i was reminded of matthew 25 and it was a great way for me to serve Christ. i am learning so much about homelessness and have really taken it an affinity for the people on the streets. no longer do i just pass them by, but now i stop and say hello, offer some food and a prayer. it's not much, but it's more than most. next up on my book list is arloa stutter's "the invisitble"

here are some pics:
